So far so good.

I can't blog at work, otherwise I would have brought you into the loop sooner.

At 10:30am I got the following text message. "At the hospital. Updates soon."
See, now "soon" is relative. When I hadn't heard back in 5 minutes I started tapping my toes impatiently. I managed to hold out and not be a bug until about 1:30 when I sent a text message back on the pretense of "Hope all is well", and by 'hope all is well' I meant 'I'm dying for updates here!!!!'

At 1:41pm I got "Going good. 4-5cm." Yep - that's good. I was sure by the time I got home she would have already had the baby and I could whip up the announcement.

Um, nope. My husband took me out for dinner and all I could think about was getting home to check my e-mails. Ahhhh, romance.

So I sent another text just now, (look at me being all restrained and not burying them in text messages - I mean hey, it's not like they have anything else to do right?), and at 7:39pm I got this back "Doing good. 7-8cm."

So she's almost there, and with any luck she'll have this baby before I go to bed.
I don't know how I'll be able to sleep otherwise.

The Theme

Registering was definitely a fun time. It was neat to look at all the baby stuff, although it was a little overwhelming. A lot of people have asked if we decided on a theme yet and it looks like we have. This is what we picked out for the main theme of the room:

I fell in love with the giraffe and that was that. Hopefully everything will come together and we can configure something that looks close to this cute.

Pregnancy Rage (and I Registered!)

I have to tell this story simply because I feel so awful for the woman it happened to. G and I went to register at Target yesterday (I'll get to more about that later), which took about 2 hours. When we were done we went to turn in the scanning gun they give you and there was another couple sitting there that had also finished registering. I was curious as to how long it would take the registry to upload so I waited to ask. In that time the man that was sitting there also came up to ask how long it should take. Come to find out they had been done registering for 20 minutes and their registry wasn't coming up! Te woman had the nastiest look on her face. I mean, if looks could have killed we would have been long dead. Anyway, the clerk said it should pretty much be instant and to please try again. G and I went to try it out and of course it came up right away. The poor pregnant woman could have ripped the head off of a puppy at that point. I left to go to the bathroom and when I got back ours was almost done printing and they were still standing there! G said that she had been staring daggers through him since I had been gone. As soon as ours printed out we went to the registers to finish our purchases. The woman was still staring at us when we walked out the door! I could total relate to the pregnant rage that wells up in us sometimes but couldn't help laugh too. Even G said she'd probably been there for over 2 hours and hadn't eaten and that was probably making it worse. I think that woman could have ripped my hair out by the roots just because my registry worked and hers didn't. I felt so bad for her but wow, the rage that wells up in us is overwhelming us sometimes.

Okay, so that long pointless story is over. And we registered! The registry is at tar*get. Here's the link: http://www.target.com/gp/gift-registries.html/ref=nav2_registries/602-1352959-7735837 Now of course there's a catch. If you comment and email me and talk to me other than just reading this blog (so this may bring out any lurkers) you already know my last name and can easily take a look. If you don't, but would like to see the registry just leave a comment and I will be glad to respond with my info.

Oh, and I'd love any comments on the registry and the "theme" we've chosen (but I'm sure I'll also talk about that more tomorrow). I guess I'd just love comments - lol.

Boy or Girl?

I got this idea from Dawn (go visit her - she's great!). I don't think you would have been able to guess the sex of this baby from these lists though. I'm highlighting the signs I've had so far. What do you think?

It’s a boy if:
  • You didn’t experience morning sickness in early pregnancy
  • Your baby’s heart rate is less than 140 beats per minute
  • You are carrying the extra weight out front (I've had a lot of people comment that my face and arms looked thinner)
  • Your belly looks like a basketball
  • Your areolas have darkened considerably
  • You are carrying low
  • You are craving salty or sour foods
  • You are craving protein — meats and cheese
  • Your feet are colder than they were before pregnancy
  • The hair on your legs has grown faster during pregnancy
  • Your hands are very dry (but they're always dry so I'm not sure whether or not to count this one)
  • Your pillow faces north when you sleep (actually my pillow faces east)
  • Dad-to-be is gaining weight, right along with you
  • Pregnancy has you looking better than ever
  • Your urine is bright yellow in color
  • Your nose is spreading
  • You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves in circles (haven't tried this)
  • You are having headaches
  • You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an even number (32)
It’s a girl if:
  • You had morning sickness early in pregnancy (and late - I threw up as recently as 20 weeks 4 days)
  • Your baby’s heart rate is at least 140 beats per minute (every visit except for the first one has had the babies heart rate around 160)
  • You are carrying the weight in your hips and rear
  • Your left breast is larger than your right breast
  • Your hair develops red highlights
  • You are carrying high
  • Your belly looks like a watermelon (it's definitely more oval than round at this point)
  • You are craving sweets
  • You are craving fruit
  • You crave orange juice
  • You don’t look quite as good as normal during pregnancy
  • You are moodier than usual during pregnancy
  • Your face breaks out more than usual (yuck - I've always been blessed in that department and now not so much)
  • You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread
  • Your breasts have really blossomed!
  • Your pillow faces south when you sleep
  • Your urine is a dull yellow color
  • You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves from side to side
  • You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an odd number
