Fruits of Labor
No, not that kind of labor.
I mean actual hands in the dirt labor. G has been trying to grow tomatoes in a pot this year. He most definitely has a green thumb, whereas mine is very, very brown. He's been a little frustrated though because even though he did plant the tomatoes a little late it still seemed like something should be happening soon if it was going to happen. The plants looked good and smelled good but there just wasn't any fruit yet. Last week things changed. G came home for lunch to find this:
I know it's not easy to see but right in front of G's finger is a little green tomato! Here's a close-up:
His work and time has paid off! YAY! They just keep getting bigger and hopefully we may actually have a few homegrown tomatoes this year. And after this success G is already planning on the things he's going to try to grow next year. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love fresh, garden grown vegetables and how much I'm looking forward to that. Yum!

We have been trying to grow cherry tomatoes all summer...it has taken FOREVER!! We have tons of green little jobbies, but they take forever to turn red. Finally when they do, Josey finds it and eats it right away. Now DH has started taking them off the vine green and letting them ripe on the counter. Works...and they are soooo good. Well worth the wait.
