The Accident

I'll say first that DH and I are both fine, and it wasn't that the accident wasn’t serious - just really frustrating. We were driving on our way out to eat after church on Sunday night and it was storming something awful. We could barely see with how bad it was coming down. All of the sudden there was a tire in the middle of the road. DH didn't see it until we were right on top of it so there was no swerving to try to avoid it. We hit it and thought maybe we just went over it but we were wrong. And of course I drive a Ford Focus so it’s very low to the ground. The tire (and when I say tire I mean ENTIRE WHEEL, RIM AND ALL - and it was a BIG truck tire too) was stuck under the car. We pulled in the gas station, which was luckily just down the street, and DH was trying to jack up the car when a really nice older man stopped to help. They got it out and we got the car home. There wasn't any cosmetic damage but now the car's at the dealership waiting on an estimate to see what the damage to the engine is going to cost us. Oh and this is considered collision and not comprehensive according to our insurance and we have a $500 deductible if we want to use our insurance coverage. Ugh. It has made for an interesting last couple of days. :-)
