Saving Up
Given that this time around I will have NO paid leave when I have the baby I am trying to scrimp and save pretty hard for my maternity leave. There is one thing I splurge on daily though – S*tarbucks. Ugh. Yes, I am addicted. I do get decaf or hot chocolate but I LOVE it so much.
I’m thinking if I get rid of that daily habit I could actually save another $100/month (YES, I seriously spend $5 a day at S*tarbucks). I very much WANT to save that $100/month but the lure of that yummy coffee drink calls each morning. Here’s where I need you – any advice on how to break this habit? Any thoughts on a little reward if I go a whole month without S*tarbucks?
Any ideas you have would be GREATLY appreciated, given that the more money I can save, the more maternity leave I can have.

Take a different route that avoids starbucks maybe.
I just HATE to hear about employers who offer no maternity pay. I just think that's so crummy, and I'm sorry you have to worry about that on top of everything else. Grrrr..
As for the Starbucks addiction, I was dealing with the same thing a couple of years ago, and fixed it by buying a nice home espresso machine. It cost about $250, but that's nothing when you add up the cost of all the individual drinks. Granted, I worked as a barista for several years, so I already knew how to make a good latte. But, if you bought one, I'm sure you could get the hang of it in time and make some yummy stuff for yourself.
Ah, I have a Starbucks addiction as well! I treat myself once or twice a week because it's definitely a splurge (remember - I don't work & my Hubby's in school!) I have an espresso/cappucino machine at home that is awesome, so I second that idea! Just think, the money you save will be used to buy diapers & wipes!
Wish I could help. Coffee calls to me too. At least we have Timmy's here which is a cheaper and yummy alternative.
