Terro. Hand to god. It's not a spray so it's safe in the kitchen, but it's still a poison so you'll want to place it in cabinets that you can lock from the kiddos.
Or I've heard soapy water in a squirt bottle sprayed in their path. Temporary.
I agree. Terro. You can get self containing traps that are safer around kids, and I've never seen anything that works so well.
